Create or modify a contact group

Contact groups allow you to send alerts or reports to multiple people. Groups are simply an alias to a list of email addresses, to help make it clear who the reports are being delivered to. For example, instead of entering in your NOC team's email addresses individually in the contacts, simply create a NOC group, which is easily edited as people join or leave the company. Once the group is configured, you can then add the group name to an alert escalation level or as a report contact for any or all of your services, while the contacts in the group are defined in just one place, for easy updates.

To access the Global Alert Contacts window:

  1. If you are currently in the Alert Contacts or Report Contacts window, click on the Add/Edit link, located next to the Add Group button. The Global Alert Contacts window is displayed.
    • Use this method if you have only one service.
  2. If you are elsewhere in the Web Console, click on the Services tab to bring up the Manage Multiple Services window. Click on the Global Alert Contacts sub-tab. The Global Alert Contacts window is displayed.

To create a new group of recipients:

  1. Access the Global Alert Contacts window as described above.
  2. Scroll down to the Create Contact Group area.
  3. Enter a name for the new group in the New Group Name box provided. (In this example the new group is called SampleGroup.)
  4. Click on the Create Contact Group button. This will add the new group name to the list of contact groups.
  5. Scroll down to the Add contact to <group name> area and enter a name and the contact's email address in the boxes.
  6. Click Add New Contact and verify the new contact appears in the list.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each contact to add to the group.
  8. When you are finished, you can navigate away from this page; all contacts are saved as they are added individually.

To add a recipient to an existing contact group:

  1. Access the Global Alert Contacts window as described above.
  2. Under the Edit or Remove Contact Groups heading, select the group from the drop-down menu and click Edit Contact Group.
  3. Follow steps 5-8 above to add new contacts to the group.

To remove a recipient from an existing contact group:

  1. Access the Global Alert Contacts window as described above.
  2. Under the Edit or Remove Contact Groups heading, select the group from the drop-down menu and click Edit Contact Group.
  3. Under the Remove contacts from <group name> heading, select the contact you want to remove, and then click the Remove Selected button. Alternately, click the Remove Entire Group button if you no longer need the group.
  4. Click Go Back to return to the Global Alert Contacts window.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 to remove the contact from any other groups it may belong to.
