Script Recorder

The Webmetrics Script recorder allows users to record and play back their navigation through a series of steps on any website or application to generate a simple, human readable, Watir-compatible script.

To determine whether you can use the Webmetrics Script Recorder to update your script:

  1. From the Dashboard, locate the service you wish to update. The service type will be listed in small print underneath the service name.

    Alternatively, from the Services tab, click on the name of the service you wish to update. The service type will be listed in small print next to the service name.
  2. RIA services will have the words Rich Internet in the service type and can be updated using the Webmetrics Script Recorder. If Rich Internet is not in the service type, you should contact Support to update your monitoring script.
    • In the example above, Checkout_Transaction is an Application Monitoring Rich Internet Gold service, and can be updated using the Webmetrics Script Recorder. Browse_Transaction is an Application Monitoring FullPage Gold service, and should be updated by a Webmetrics support team member or someone familiar with Webmetrics Standard scripting.

The scripting language that RIA monitors use is not compatible with GlobalWatch Standard application monitoring. As such, scripts created by using the script recorder will not work with a Standard monitoring service. Adding a script that was created using the Script Recorder to a Standard monitor will result in the error message below, and the changes will not be saved.
